SALUS

As Archangel Gavriel descends to Earth to announce Mary the coming of Christ he falls in the presence of Aamon, the all-seeing demon. He’ll tell him the future that this so called saviour will bring

Inspired by the work “Cain’s Lineage” by Biagio Iacobelli, director Monica Buriola wanted to bring onto the screen the theme of the grotesque brought by the overlapping of sacred and profane imagery. And what is more grotesque than a great angel telling a 14 year old that they are pregnant with the saviour of mankind, that will later be used as a pretense for immense violence, corruption and manipulation? This isn’t really an attack on Christianity or religion, but merely an interesting look at this bible story with the hindsight of 2025 years of a “saved” humanity that takes a, well, grotesque turn.
